Day one (Emergency Paediatric First Aid)

  • Role and responsibilities of paediatric first aider
  • Incident and casualty assessment
  • CPR and AED
  • Unconscious casualty
  • Choking casualty
  • Shock
  • External bleeding
  • Minor injuries and bites and stings

Day one will have an Assessment and Test Paper


Day Two


  • Fractures
  • Head, neck and back injuries
  • Eyes, ears and nose conditions
  • Chronic medical conditions or sudden illness
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Meningitis
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Body temperature
  • Electric shock
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisonous substances
  • Allergic reaction inc anaphylaxis

Pre-School close Brancepeth

Brancepeth is a village and civil parish in County Durham, in England. It is situated about 8 km (5.0 mi) from Durham on the A690 road between Durham and Weardale. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 census was 414.[1]

Brancepeth Castle was until 1570 the fortress of the Neville Earls of Westmorland. The castle was extensively modified and rebuilt in the 19th century by Viscount Boyne (later Baron Brancepeth). It was later a military hospital.[2]
