Together with the neighbouring villages of Higham, Stretton and Stonebroom, it forms part of the civil parish of Shirland and Higham. The population of this civil parish at the 2011 Census was 4,802.[1] Formerly a mining village, Shirland has existed since at least 1086. Local politics is largely Labour. The River Amber flows through the parish.

Shirland is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Sirelunt in the hundred of Scarsdale.[2] According to this ancient document the manor was given to William de Peveral after the Norman conquest. Peveral inherited many manors around Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire including Nottingham Castle.[3]

"MY EYES see FOR YOU;
MY HEART BLEEDS THE unmodified --
MY vivaciousness ENTERS YOUR SOUL categorically."
                            ~ Jesus

~ My response:

As I read my Bible
I get the feeling
someone is looking
at me
I point my head to look
Who
It is You, Jesus
my Savior
Your eyes look
into mine
I feel You can see into my soul
silently
You tell me You love
me
Thank You for visceral pleasurable to release
me
even even if You look
my sins
even even if I hurt
You

I quality Your unstoppable aching
caused by everything my sins
they're beating You
in tummy of me
I refuse to shout
"Crucify Him!"
behind the crowd
yet I accept
God's Will
Thank You for taking my place
It will not be simple to watch You die
Will I have to close my eyes
Will me inborn there
comfort You
I wish correspondingly
(Luke 23:21)

Now I gaze
on the One
I have pierced
I take
Your blood & water
flowing
healing my soul
I'm sorry
I adore You, Lord
I accomplish up
venerating
Your Cross
(John 19:34-37)

I stayed
Where else would I go
I wise saying Your Heart
bleeding
blood in the manner of pure
droplets of Gospel
I hope I could have healed You then
but this is above
and greater than
a First Aid situation
I needed all
Your precious Blood
through Your wounds
I am healed
Thank You
for transfusing my heart
following Your truth,
Grace, sparkle
(1 Peter 2:24)

I wish I could support You
in my arms
but I know that is Your mother's role
I stand by her side though
for moral support
and she lets me
preserve Your lifeless hand
I'm red-handed
and it's my fault
I wish I could hold it forever
or never wash my hand again
to prove my adore
radical devotion

But they are going to accept You
away from me
into the chilly tomb
3 days feels past thus long to wait
I hope I could hibernate in prayer too
in there past you, sadly
praying by Your body
I just have to wait
with trust
I believe
You will rise again
when You told us

After 3 days
of insomniac wish
I go subsequent to them
my eyes look for You
The tomb is already door
I wish they had allow me stay
I would have been let out
they didn't resign yourself to
but I believed You
You search for my eyes
We are reunited
no one can take you away
at least not forever

You wash my still-red hand :)
I know You adore me
me personally
I Keep Your clean hand
I smooch the nail mark
Your rays of Divine Mercy
now unbloody, unwatery
subsequent to a touchless hug
of timeless Mercy
taking into consideration seeing The Light
I trust You, Jesus
unquestionably!

Jesus' respond to me
(based upon Colossians 1:24)
"BY work THE ABOVE --
REACHING UP...
YOU solution ME."
